The Dubai World Trade Centre is the business complex located along the Sheikh Zayed Road at the Trade Center Roundabout in Dubai city. This complex includes the original trade tower which was built in the year 1978, 8 large exhibition Halls, residential apartments and the Dubai International Convention Centre. This complex was built by H.H. Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum. This tower is a 39 storey building and was the first high rise building of Dubai city. This tower is let for commercial purpose only and some of the prominent tenants here include Federal Express, General Motors, MasterCard International, Schlumberger, Johnson & Johnson, Mallet-Prevost, Colt & Mosle LLP, consulates of different countries and many others.
The 100 dirham banknote also features this building. There are many convention centers, hotels and shopping malls in the Trade Center Area. This business district stretches from Sheikh Zayed Road towards the Za'abeel Roundabout. The Dubai World Trade Center is the major highlight of the Trade Center Area which is located just opposite the Fairmont Hotel. Many international conferences are organized every year in this region at the Trade Center. This region is a little more expensive than other parts of Dubai city.
