Dubai International Airport - Terminal 1

Dubai International Airport is located in Dubai which is the largest city of United Arab Emirates. You can also say that it is the major hub in the Middle East and also the main airport of Dubai. This airport is located in the Al Garhoud district which is found at the distance of about 4 km southeast of Dubai. Department of Civil Aviation has operated the airport which is also the home base of Dubai's international airline which is Emirates and Emirates Sky Cargo. Emirates airline handles almost 60% of all passenger traffic and 38% accounts of all aircraft movements at the airport. Fly Dubai is the low base airline of Dubai. According to the figures of July 2010, over 6,000 weekly flights have been operated by 130 airlines which cover over 220 destinations across the world except Antarctica.

According to the figures of 2010 it tells us that Dubai has handled a record 47.2 million in passenger traffic and in 2009 this % increase by 15.4%. These facts and figures reflect that it is the 13th busiest airport in the world in terms of passenger traffic and the 4th busiest airport in the whole world in terms of international passenger traffic.  It is considered as the 7th busiest airport in the world by cargo traffic by October 2011 and has become 12th busiest airport in the world by passenger traffic.

Terminal 1 at Dubai airport has overall capacity of 30 million passengers. You will also find 221 checks in counters at Terminal 1 with a separate section for first and business class passengers. There are also around 40 passport control desk and 14 baggage claim belts. Originally this Terminal 1 was built to handle around 21 million passengers but as the time passes the airport was forced to expand due to the heavy traffic i.e. 30 million.

There are many spots at Terminal 1 which includes over 25 food and beverage cafes and restaurants, with the Food Court which are located on the Departures Level. There is also a 78 deluxe 5 star hotel with 6 junior suites and 2 royal suites, a business centre, a health club, and also duty free shopping facility which covers area of about 58,000 sq ft. there are many other facilities for passenger which include prayer rooms and a medical centre.
