These facts and figures reflect that it is the 13th busiest airport in the world in terms of passenger traffic and the 4th busiest airport in the whole world in terms of international passenger traffic. It is considered as the 7th busiest airport in the world by cargo traffic by October 2011 and has become 12th busiest airport in the world by passenger traffic.
Terminal 1 at Dubai airport has overall capacity of 30 million passengers. You will also find 221 checks in counters at Terminal 1 with a separate section for first and business class passengers. There are also around 40 passport control desk and 14 baggage claim belts. Originally this Terminal 1 was built to handle around 21 million passengers but as the time passes the airport was forced to expand due to the heavy traffic i.e. 30 million.

There is also a 78 deluxe 5 star hotel with 6 junior suites and 2 royal suites, a business centre, a health club, and also duty free shopping facility which covers area of about 58,000 sq ft. there are many other facilities for passenger which include prayer rooms and a medical centre.
