Sports and Recreation in Jeddah

Jeddah is quite famous for it offers a number of sporting and recreational activities both to locals as well as the visitors of the city. one of the most significant sport in the city of Jeddah is the football or soccer. There are a number of facilties there in the city to support the players. One of the most popular clubs in the city is Al Ittihad club which is serving quite well since it was first formed in 1928. It is one of the most successful and the largest clubs of Saudi Arabia. The club at present not only is dedicated to football but also facilitate swimming, water polo, basketball, volleyball and table tennis. To further promote the sport, the Saudi Football Federation was formed in 1957 to support the sport worldwide. King’s Cup was the first formal football tournament organized in the region in 1957 and was continuously arranged every year till a national league was formed in 1975. Another professional and quite famous sports club in Jeddah is the Al Ahli.

A relatively new but quite popular sport in Jeddah is the baseball. It is well liked among Americans. There are five different leagues in the city for baseball including T Ball for 6-7 year olds, Coach Pitch League for 8-9 year olds, little league for 10-12 year olds and Pony league for 13-15 year olds. There is a girl’s league as well for 9-15 year olds.
